In 2014 a great poem is read aloud at a birthday party of the poet’s wife–and never heard or read again. Over a hundred years later, the UK has been mostly submerged by rising seas due to the climate crisis and nuclear incidents, travel is hard and resources are rare. Tom Metcalfe is fascinated with the freedom and possibilities of the start of the milennial and becomes obsessed with finding the poem.

There were parts that I enjoyed and most of it is beautifully written with lots of layers, but as a whole, I couldn’t get into it and had to push through to finish the book.
