Slow Horses by Mick Herron

Jackson Lamb is the king of the Slough House, a division (can you even call it division?) of MI5 with employees who messed up but weren’t fired for one reason or another. The Slow Horses don’t get real cases, they’re given miserable busywork, up until something big happens and they find themselves right in the middle.

I’ve watched the TV show and it’s rare how close the show is to the book and how well the characters are cast. The book is thrilling, well written and fun to read, recommend—even more if you’ve watched the show!
